NEW DINOSAUR TRAIN DVD “UNDER THE VOLCANO” IS ERUPTING WITH FUN-FILLED ADVENTURES

DVD Available from PBS Distribution July 12

Arlington, Va. – June 2, 2016 – PBS Distribution announced today it is releasing eight stories from PBS KIDS’ popular DINOSAUR TRAIN series from The Jim Henson Company on the new DVD “UNDER THE VOLCANO.” Join Buddy and his family as they watch the mighty volcano, Old Smoky, erupt! In this DVD featuring dino-mite adventures, learn all about lava and geysers, see what happens when Mr. Pteranodon and Larry Lambeosaurus get stuck in a mud pit, and get inspired to make nature art when Buddy, Tiny, Shiny, and Don find ways to use a pile of leaves, petals, wood, and shells from the family nest.

“UNDER THE VOLCANO” will be available on DVD July 12, 2016. The DVD run time is approximately 120 minutes and its SRP is $9.99. The stories included on this DVD are below.

"Under the Volcano”
Buddy, Tiny, and Dad take the Dinosaur Train to see Old Smoky, the local volcano. It’s such a spectacular sight that they go back for the rest of the family, only to discover they’ve already gone to see the volcano! The merry mix-up concludes as the whole family meets up just in time to catch Old Smoky erupting.

“Old Reliable”
Mr. Pteranodon and Mr. Lambeosaurus take all the kids to see a field of geysers – holes in the ground that hot water shoots out from! At the same time, Mrs. Pteranodon and Mrs. Lambeosaurus are relaxing nearby in soothing pools of warm water, called hot springs. In the end, the kids love seeing the geysers and then joining the Moms in their hot springs, while accidentally surprising Mr. Conductor who is secretly trying to relax in his own private hot spring pool!

“Nature Art”
Mrs. Pteranodon cleans out the clutter from the family nest and the kids are amazed at the pile of stuff – leaves, flower petals, pieces of wood, and shells. Tiny stops Mom from throwing out all the stuff, determined that she and Buddy, Shiny, and Don will find a use for it all. And, they do – the Pteranodon kids have fun making nature art on the beach using the items from the nest!

“The Big Mud Pit”
There’s big trouble at the Big Pond when Larry Lambeosaurus gets stuck in a mud pit, and then Dad tries to get Larry out, and ends up getting stuck himself. Buddy and Leroy Lambeosaurus have to think quickly to pull their dads out before some big meat-eater finds them!

“Derek the Deinonychus”
Buddy, Tiny, and Mom visit a family of Deinonychus dinosaurs with large, sharp toe-claws. They meet a kid named Derek who uses his toe-claws to not only hunt with but to carve great art!

“Triceratops for Lunch”
Our Pteranodon family eats lunch with their friend Tank Triceratops and discovers that he and his family are all plant-eaters, with great leaf-eating teeth and giant appetites!

“The Forest Fire”
When a forest fire comes to woods not far from the family nest at Pteranodon Terrace, the family takes the Dinosaur Train to visit a nearby area where a fire has already been. The Conductor leads the kids on a Nature Tracker hike through the woods to see how new life is growing back – even after the forest fire’s devastation.

“Sunrise, Sunset”
Dad takes the Pteranodon kids on an overnight camping trip where they watch both a sunrise and sunset, learning that the sun rises in the east and sets in the west. The kids also find out more about nocturnal (night-active) animals, and diurnal (day-active) animals.

The five-time Emmy-nominated DINOSAUR TRAIN, created by Craig Bartlett (“Hey Arnold!”), is set in a whimsically realistic, prehistoric world of jungles, swamps, active volcanoes and oceans. Each day, DINOSAUR TRAIN helps kids ages 3 to 6 to apply scientific thinking as they discover new types of dinosaur species, compare and contrast dinosaurs to today’s creatures and embrace the living sciences of paleontology and natural science. DINOSAUR TRAIN airs weekdays on PBS KIDS (check local listings).

PBS Kids: Caillou Helps Out Coming To DVD June 16th!

Friday, April 24, 2015

CAILLOU LENDS A HELPING HAND IN THE NEW DVD
“CAILLOU HELPS OUT”

PBS Distribution announced it is releasing seven stories from PBS KIDS’ popular CAILLOU series on the new DVD “CAILLOU HELPS OUT.” Caillou loves to help out! From helping his dad make pizza to learning the importance of tidying up the classroom, Caillou realizes that lending a hand and working together makes everything easier and more fun.

Lovable four-year-old Caillou has a boundless imagination that makes every experience an opportunity for fun and play. By sharing in his incredible adventures, children can “make believe” along with Caillou and find new ways to understand and enjoy the world around them. CAILLOU is designed for preschoolers and focuses on role-playing and “make-believe.” CAILLOU airs weekdays on PBS KIDS (check local listings) and is produced by DHX Media.

CAILLOU HELPS OUT” will be available on DVD June 16, 2015. The run time is approximately 60 minutes and the DVD SRP is $12.99.

The adventures included on this DVD are listed below. In one of the stories, “Emma’s Extra Snacks,” Caillou learns that while his friend Emma has diabetes, it doesn’t stop her from participating in all her favorite activities. A new book from Chouette Publishing called “Emma’s Extra Snacks” will be available this fall. The book, published with the American Diabetes Association, includes a poster about Emma and her diabetes.

Caillou Makes a Meal
Caillou makes pizza for dinner with his family, and learns that home-made pizza can be just as good as the fast-food pizza they have delivered to their door...and it’s fun to make!

High Flyers
Daniel comes for a visit and thinks he knows how to put together a model plane...without the instructions. When the plane doesn’t fly properly, Caillou finally gets the courage to point out a poorly connected piece. They fix the plane and Daniel acknowledges that Caillou knows a lot for a little kid!

The Untidy Classroom
When Caillou complains about having to tidy up, Miss Martin suggests an experiment – they won’t tidy up the classroom for a few days, and they’ll see what happens.  At first, the kids think this is fantastic...until they can’t find their puzzle pieces, they keep stepping on toys, and they can’t even do their morning exercises. Caillou finally realizes it’s time to tidy up, and decides to lead the clean-up crew!

Follow Me
Caillou tries to befriend his new classmate, Andy, but finds he isn’t getting very far. When Caillou tries to see things through Andy’s eyes, and realizes he prefers quiet activities – such as drawing – Caillou finally finds a way for them to be friends.

Emma’s Extra Snacks
Caillou is confused when Emma is allowed to have extra snacks at preschool. He’s even more confused when Miss Martin explains that Emma has type 1 diabetes. Worried about his friend, Caillou becomes very protective of Emma, not wanting her to do anything – not even go down the slide!  But when Emma outruns Caillou in a race, he soon realizes Emma’s diabetes isn’t like a cold or flu. It’s something Emma has to live with every day...and she’s doing a pretty good job of it.

Smooth Sailing
Caillou likes sailing with Daddy and Grandpa. Only, he wants to be Captain!  Grandpa and Daddy try to convince him that his job – as Lookout – is very important, but Caillou isn’t convinced...until he helps them find Treasure Cove by spotting various landmarks and leading the way.

Captain Caillou
Captain Caillou and Fantastic Leo are enjoying ‘flying’ around the house, pretending to be superheroes. Only, they can’t seem to share the task of saving the world!  Each wants to be the big hero in charge of their important ‘rescue’.  When Daddy asks them to lend a hand in weeding out the wild weed ogres, Caillou and Leo come to realize things would go a lot smoother if they worked together.

Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, “Daniel’s Big Feelings Week”

Sunday, February 16, 2014

It's finally here! Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, “Daniel’s Big Feelings Week,” begins tomorrow Monday, February 17 and runs till the 21! Join Daniel Tiger and his friends as they learn about strategies for dealing with feelings of jealousy, disappointment, frustration and empathy.

Episodes from “Daniel’s Big Feelings Week” will be available on DVD starting February 25, when the first Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood DVDs, “Daniel’s Big Feelings” and “Life’s Little Lessons,” will be released wherever DVDs are sold.

Also, be sure to check out pbskids.org/daniel in February when a new Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood game, “Let’s Make Believe,” launches! In this game, children make choices for Daniel’s make-believe play, finding encouragement for their own imaginative ideas and building creative thinking, visualizing and problem-solving skills.

“Daniel’s Big Feelings Week” – Episode Air Dates and Descriptions

“Duckling Goes Home/Daniel Feels Left Out” (#135) – Premieres February 17, 2014
“Duckling Goes Home”: Today at school, the children find out that Ducky has grown too big to be their classroom pet and it’s time to take him back to the farm. This news is very upsetting, especially to Daniel and Miss Elaina. The children cope with their sadness in different ways and soon they feel a little bit better.

“Daniel Feels Left Out”: On their way home from the Neighborhood grocery store, Dad and Daniel stop by the Treehouse to say “hello.” O the Owl and Katerina Kittycat have been playing together all day, and are even going to have dinner together. When it is time to go home with Dad, Daniel feels left out and sad. Back at home, Mom and Dad Tiger help Daniel with his sad feelings and he soon starts to feel better.

Strategy: It’s ok to feel sad sometimes; little by little you'll feel better.

“Daniel Gets Frustrated/Frustration at School” (#136) – Premieres February 18, 2014
“Daniel Gets Frustrated”: Daniel is staying at home with Mom Tiger today. He really wants to play with Prince Wednesday, but the prince is visiting his cousin Chrissie. He asks Mom if they can go to Music Man Stan’s shop, but they can't because it is closed. Daniel gets really frustrated when it seems that he’s unable to do anything he wants to do. With some guidance from Mom, Daniel learns how to work through his frustration.

“Frustration at School”: Daniel and his friends are playing “restaurant” at school and Daniel feels frustrated when he can’t find the toy he is looking for. Teacher Harriet helps him realize that the right thing to do is to take a step back and ask for help.

Strategy: When you’re frustrated, take a step back and ask for help.

“Daniel Is Jealous/Jealousy at the Treehouse” (#138) – Premieres February 19, 2014
“Daniel Is Jealous”: Daniel and Katerina are playing “airplane” with Grandpere. Daniel thinks Katerina is getting too much attention from Grandpere and starts to feel jealous. Daniel explains his feelings and is reassured that he is Grandpere’s one and only Daniel.

“Jealousy at the Treehouse”: Daniel and Katerina are at O the Owl’s house today, playing with his new science kit. Daniel and Katerina feel jealous of O because they want science tools just like his. After talking about their feelings, the children realize how they can all enjoy O’s special science kit.

Strategy: When you feel jealous, talk about it.

“Someone Else’s Feelings/Empathy at School” (#140) – Premieres February 20, 2014
“Someone Else’s Feelings”: Daniel and O the Owl are pretending to be handymen, using their toy tools to make “repairs” to Daniel’s playhouse. Daniel is having lots of fun hammering loudly, but it’s upsetting O, who would rather do something quieter. Daniel loves hammering so much that it’s hard for him to see why it upsets O. Mom helps Daniel be empathetic and think about how O is feeling: Daniel remembers a time when he was upset because Miss Elaina was being way too loud for him. He doesn’t want O to feel this way, and he realizes that they can both have fun as quiet handymen!

“Empathy at School”: Chrissie and Daniel are playing together at school today, but when Chrissie loses her special bracelet, she doesn’t feel like playing anymore. Daniel has trouble understanding why, until Teacher Harriet shows him how to be empathetic and think about how Chrissie may be feeling. Daniel remembers just how worried he was when he thought he had lost Tigey and decides to stop playing and help find the bracelet.

Monday, January 27, 2014

PBS KIDS PREMIERES FIVE ALL-NEW EPISODES OF TOP-RATED
“DANIEL TIGER’S NEIGHBORHOOD” WITH “DANIEL’S BIG FEELINGS WEEK”

In new episodes, airing February 17-21, Daniel and his friends learn to tackle the emotions that come with being a little kid in a big world.

Arlington, VA,  –
This February, PBS KIDS will feature a special week of the top-rated DANIEL TIGER’S NEIGHBORHOOD, with the debut of five new episodes that focus on the big emotions that young children experience. In “Daniel’s Big Feelings Week,” which airs from February 17 to 21, Daniel Tiger and his friends will help children and families learn strategies for dealing with feelings of jealousy, disappointment, frustration and empathy.

A new DANIEL TIGER’S NEIGHBORHOOD game, “Let’s Make Believe,” launches on pbskids.org/daniel in February. In this game, children make choices for Daniel’s make-believe play, finding encouragement for their own imaginative ideas and building creative thinking, visualizing and problem-solving skills.

“DANIEL TIGER’S NEIGHBORHOOD helps our youngest viewers build the skills that research shows are critical for success in school and in life,” said Lesli Rotenberg, General Manager, Children’s Programming, PBS. “With ‘Daniel’s Big Feelings Week,’ we are excited to offer families new strategies to help them deal with challenging emotions that arise in the life of any preschooler – from how to cope with feeling sad or left out to managing frustration. Other episodes of the popular series throughout the week will help children learn important concepts like empathy and understanding differences between people.”

“Fred Rogers understood that it is vital for young children to develop positive emotional and social skills, and the five new episodes in ‘Daniel’s Big Feelings Week’ bring his gentle lessons to today’s preschool viewers in a fun and memorable way,” said Paul Siefken, Vice President, Broadcast and Digital Media, The Fred Rogers Company. “The new stories will help further Fred’s enduring legacy with both parents and children, and we are excited to introduce this week of special shows for Daniel fans of all ages.”

Angela C. Santomero, Series Creator and Co-Executive Producer, added, “In ‘Daniel’s Big Feelings Week,’ and in every episode, Daniel brings young viewers directly into his world so that they can learn right alongside him and his friends as they navigate life from a preschool perspective. The catchy musical strategies that are an integral part of each story stick with kids and parents and continue to support them long after the episode is over.”

DANIEL TIGER’S NEIGHBORHOOD, which debuted on PBS KIDS in September 2012, is the first television series produced by The Fred Rogers Company since the iconic MISTER ROGERS’ NEIGHBORHOOD. Every episode of the well-loved show features two endearing stories starring four-year-old Daniel Tiger and his best friends, who invite young viewers to come with them on fun adventures as they explore the colorful Neighborhood of Make-Believe. Series creator Angela C. Santomero (SUPER WHY, Blue’s Clues), from lead production partner Out of the Blue Enterprises, is co-executive producer of the show, along with Kevin Morrison of The Fred Rogers Company and Vince Commisso of the award-winning animation studio 9 Story Entertainment.

Episode air dates and descriptions follow. High-resolution images from “Daniel’s Big Feelings Week” are available on PBS PressRoom; screeners and clips are available upon request.

Strategy: Think about how someone else is feeling.

“Line Leader Daniel/Neighborhood Jobs” (#134) – Premieres February 21, 2014
“Line Leader Daniel”: The children are getting new classroom jobs at school. Daniel really wants to be line leader! When he doesn’t get the job he wants, Daniel is disappointed. Soon he learns that all of the jobs are necessary to keep the classroom running smoothly.

“Neighborhood Jobs”: Daniel and Mom Tiger are visiting the library today. Unfortunately, X the Owl isn't feeling very well and needs to go to the doctor. Daniel learns the importance of all the Neighborhood jobs when he and Mom Tiger fill in as librarian for X so he can see Dr. Anna.

Strategy: Everyone’s job is important; we all help in different ways.
